Picture of the former Seacon Public Elementary School in 2006

I attended this school from 1944 to 1951. The main part of the building, facing you in the photograph, was divided into two classrooms by a curtain. The area to the right was the infants' section taught by Mrs Morrison. The area to the left was the senior section taught by Mrs Henry, the principal. The attached porch contained the cloakroom and toilet.

Our playground in those days was really the road. Motor traffic on the road at that time was rare and relatively slow. A hill ran past the school, coming from the left on the photograph and, in times of snow which seemed more frequent in those days, we would slide down the hill past the school.
