Localities
outside North Antrim
Here I intend to include some
localities outside North Antrim. I suspect most of
these will relate to other parts of Co. Antrim and
Co. Londonderry. So far, only some townlands in the
parish of Ballynascreen in South Derry have been
included. Note, however, that you will find a number of
locality studies relating to Co. Londonderry in my
new CD Researching Derry & Londonderry Ancestors:
A practical guide for family and local historians
which will be available soon.
Parish of Ballynascreen
This material was produced for a
talk on researching townlands in Ballynascreen
parish. The townlands of Drumderg, Dunmurry and
Glebe were chosen as exemplars.
Below you will find links to a
number of sources relating to the three townlands in the
parish. These sources should enable you to trace
families and properties within each of these
townlands from the 1830s to the early twentieth
century.
I also used civil and church records to
research some
of the families in Drumderg and Dunmurry. See the
paper on
Researching Families in Drumderg and Dunmurry before
1922. See
also - some
Drumderg Marriages 1857-1899 and
some
Dunmurry Marriages 1854-1890.
