Church Street Coleraine,
South Side: 1960s
[Griffith's [Nos.
1-7]
| This photograph taken some time in the
1960s shows two major changes on the south side of the
street - the new shop fronts of the Maypole [No. 7] and [No.
6] Moores (Drapers). Note that the bay window of the earlier
part of the century has gone from Moore's shopfront. By
this time H.& T. Bellas [No. 7] had moved the Church Street
part of their shop to [No. 3],
probably around 1953.
The Maypole which had been in [No. 9] had moved into the
vacated premises of [No. 7] by 1954. Bellas still maintained the New
Row part of their shop on the corner. The rest of the
occupants on this side of the street were as they had been
in the 1950s. Paul Fashions moved into Goorwitch Ltd. by
1967 but this photograph does not allow us to see [Nos.
1 & 2]. Part of the north side of the
street is also shown in this photograph.
