| This photograph, of similar age to the
two previous ones, shows both the northern side of the
street on the left and the southern side on the right.
The southern side shows [Nos. 6 & 7], already covered in the
previous photograph plus [No. 8] on the other corner of New
Row. [No. 8] was occupied by Burns & McClelland (Drapers) in
1903 and in 1911 by Joseph Paul. Previous to that it had been occupied by John B.
Greaves (Draper). In 1860 it had been a grocer's shop
occupied by James & G. Rogerson & Co. By the early 1920s it
was in the hands of R. B. & then John Adams (Drapers). By 1929 the
occupant was Robert Smyth whose family carried on a drapery
& footwear business here until recent times. The remainder
of the buildings beyond [No. 8] will be dealt with in the
next few photographs.
